Openings - Research Assistant Professor
The Department of Information Engineering (IE) at CUHK invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor (RAP) position in Embedded AI Systems. We welcome applicants from all related areas, including LLM systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), Edge Computing, and AI systems for autonomous driving and robotics, with particular preference given to candidates specializing in AI for health and medicine.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field, and demonstrate strong research expertise at the intersection of systems and AI. A proven track record of publications in top-tier venues is required, and prior experience in digital medicine conferences and journals will be considered a strong advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative research in Embedded AI Systems, pursue external research funding as a Principal Investigator, and engage actively in the supervision or co-supervision of Ph.D. students. Additional responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contributing to service within the department, faculty, and the university.
The appointee in AI for Health and Medicine will collaborate closely with the AIoT Lab in the department and the CUHK Medical School, which is recognized as one of the best medical schools in Asia, focusing on advancing AI-driven clinical and healthcare solutions. They will lead research projects in areas such as multi-modal sensor systems, Foundation Models and Large Language Models (LLMs) for medical applications, such as trustworthy AI, digital biomarker discovery, and clinical data analysis. The appointee will also design and execute clinical studies to validate AI-powered tools for monitoring, diagnosis, and intervention.
Appointments are typically made on a contract basis for up to three years.
